Alan Lovell joined the Board as Chairman on 26 October 2017. He is also Chair of the Consumer Council for Water and of the Association of Lloyd’s Members (ALM).
In his executive career, he was Chief Executive of six companies, three in Construction (including Costain), one in FMCG and two in waste-to-energy. More recently he was Senior Independent Director of Sweett Group plc and Chairman of Sepura plc.
In the not-for-profit world, he is Chairman of the Hampshire Cultural Trust and the Mary Rose Trust, a Trustee of Winchester Cathedral and Chairman of the University of Winchester.
Chief Financial Officer
Nigel Canham has worked for Danaher Corporation, the $19B revenue NYSE listed global science and technology company, for the last 12 years. Since 2011 he was Finance Director of Fluke Corporation’s emerging markets group. Fluke is a market-leader in the test and measurement sector. Nigel helped create a team and infrastructure that drove revenue growth, increased profitability and improved working capital across the regions. From 2009 to 2011 Nigel was Finance Director and EU Accounting Director for Gilbarco Veeder‐Root, the manufacturer of fuel dispensers and integrated fuelling solutions. From 2007 to 2009, Nigel was based in California as Finance Director for Kerr Corporation, Danaher’s leading global dental consumables business. From 2002 to 2007 he was Financial Controller of Linx Printing Technologies, a Danaher business in the coding, marking and industrial printing market. Prior to Danaher Nigel held finance positions with several UK companies including Dialight Plc and Strand Lighting, businesses supported by investment from Permira, the international private equity firm, and Vinten Broadcast. Nigel is a qualified chartered management accountant and is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Managing Director, Flow Energy
Andrew has held a number of senior roles in a range of energy businesses. From 2001 – 2004 he was Commercial Director of Atlantic Electric and Gas. Between 2004 and 2009 he worked in a range of companies on systems provision for use in the energy industry. From 2009 – 2011, he was Director of Technology and Procurement at Utilita, the ground-breaking energy supply and smart metering business. From 2011 – 2012 he was Principal Consultant at Engage Consulting, the leading utilities consultancy. From 2012 – 2014 he was Managing Director of Flow Energy before moving to be Group Energy Services Director at EIC. He returned to Flow as Group Commercial Director later in 2014 and is now Managing Director of Flow Energy. Andrew stays active in national and regulatory energy forums and is on the Board at Energy UK and is chair of the Energy UK Retail Committee. He is a member of the IET.
David joined Grant Thornton in 1989 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. In 2000 David was appointed a Partner, one of the youngest partners in the firm, at the age of 31. David worked primarily in the Corporate Finance team but also acquired secondary audit responsibilities. David was integral to the flotation of Energetix (now Flowgroup) in 2006 as lead partner and Reporting Accountant for the IPO. In 2006, David was appointed National Head of Transaction Services, including the oversight of the development of Transaction Services offering across Grant Thornton International. David was then appointed in 2009, as Managing Partner for the North West practice of Grant Thornton, encompassing offices in Liverpool and Manchester which employs in excess of 300 staff. David brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge to the board.
Brian F Carroll,
Brian F Carroll is the Managing Partner of Carroll Capital LLC. He was, through 2016, a Member of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P., a global alternative asset management firm. He joined KKR in 1995 and was most recently the Head of the Consumer and Retail teams in Europe. He was also a member of the European Investment Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Laureate Education, Inc. and previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of AEP Industries, Afriflora Holdings, The Boyds Collection, Ltd., Cognita Ltd., Harman International Industries, Borden Inc., Northgate Information Solutions, Pets at Home Group Plc, Rockwood Holdings, Inc., Sealy Corporation, and SMCP Groupe. Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Carroll was with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he worked on a broad range of high yield financing, corporate finance and merchant banking transactions. He earned a B.S. and B.A.S. from the University of Pennsylvania and a M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Brad Tirpak is a Managing Director at Palm Ventures where he focuses on small cap public companies. He was, through 2016, the founder of Locke Partners and managed various investment partnerships that focused on engaging public companies to improve corporate governance and improve shareholder returns. From 1996 through 2008, he worked as a portfolio manager at Credit Suisse First Boston, Caxton Associates, and Sigma Capital Management. Prior to his career on Wall Street, Mr. Tirpak founded Access Telecom, Inc., an international telecommunications company based in Mexico City. He has served on the Board of Directors of USA Technologies, Inc. Applied Minerals, Inc. and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Full House Resorts, Inc. Bradley Tirpak earned Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University.
Jamie Brooke is a fund manager at Lombard Odier and is founder and Lead Portfolio Manager for the 1798 Volantis Catalyst Funds I & II and also leads the team’s active engagement capability. Jamie has over ten years of quoted small-cap experience alongside ten years of private equity and venture capital experience at 3i and Quester. Mr. Brooke is an ACA Chartered Accountant, has a Mathematics degree from Oxford University and an Internet & Telecommunications MSC from UCL.
